Urban Sniper Project – Update

I went out with a buddy to shoot today so I took the Remington 700 SPS Tactical out to give it a go with some 175g Federal Gold Medal Match. First off, I was shocked that the first group I shot was as good as it was given the conditions those shots were taken in. Anyone who has taken time to shoot accurately knows the importance of a comfortable shooting position. My position was part from comfortable, with myself at the base of a small rise, my feet were higher than my head. Not only that, heat mirage across the rock pit was ridiculous, the Vortex Strike Eagle II I was using did me zero favors in terms of cutting through it. Regardless, despite one flier that came when the mirage was at it’s worst, I was pretty happy with the results.

2×2 bullseye, slightly over 1MOA at 100 meters. Honestly, I can do better, but this was about what I expected if everything was perfect. As it is, I’m going to shoot a few more groups and if it’s this good (or better), I’m going to have a tactical bolt knob installed, a Badger Ord recoil lug, get the barrel threaded and Cerakote it before I slap it into a HS Precision take off from a older Remington 700P with a DBM kit.
