Fuck, man. This was a shit situation.
On one hand, the kid is seen as a murderer.
On the other, he is a folk hero.
I can’t say I agree with either point of view, no matter how you spin either one.
At what point do you ask, why the fuck did he even go down there? Where were his parents? What motivated him to take a loaded weapon to a violent riot?
My sense tells me he was surrounded by like minded people, kids really. Immature, inexperienced, and dangerous in violent situations because they don’t know how to avoid them.
You see these type of kids online. Quick to talk about violence but zero competency in the topic. Zero training. Zero discipline.
Discipline is a key factor in maturity, and a huge part of what makes men, men.
It’s a key masculine trait. Discipline enables us to sacrifice for long term goals and the greater good.
It’s what enables us to be protectors, of loved ones, culture, and those who cannot defend themselves.
To protect others, that’s what Kyle expressed in the interviews preceding the shooting.
But without discipline, without maturity, without competency, gained through training and life experience, how can you protect yourself much less anyone else?
He didn’t learn what he needed to from a solid male role model. His father isn’t around and his mother is obviously a poor substitute considering she drove him to the protests.
He might have thought he was protecting that business, or helping people that were needing medical care, but he didn’t have the mental tools necessary to help anyone.
He didn’t even have the mental tools necessary to help himself avoid dangerous situations.
When he hit the ground and faced down those dudes trying to do him harm, he was there because of his own actions.
He let himself be led to that position.
Did he defend himself? Obviously. Anyone who denies that denies reality.
Anyone who worships those dick bags that were assaulting him is lacking in the same intelligence that Kyle was lacking.
A Communist, a Pedo, and a spousal abuser got fucked up as a result, and good, they deserve it.
But was that worth it?
A 17 year old life is now forever changed because he lacked the discipline, maturity, and proper role models necessary to know that maybe he shouldn’t be there.
“Fuck, I shouldn’t go to this.”
That’s the thought that he missed.
This isn’t about the 2nd Amendment
This isn’t about Boogaloo Bois.
This isn’t about the right to protest and destroy businesses.
Or George Floyd.
Or Breonna Taylor.
This is about a 17 year old boy who grew up to think that taking a rifle to a riot was a good idea, like he could be of some service.
“Set yourself in order before trying to set the world in order.” Jordan Peterson
“You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” Matthew 7:5
“Fuck, I shouldn’t go to this.”
I bet looking back, he is wishing he had that thought.
